MTX-5 Tuning Pinion

This Arrowmax 18T pinion is supplied as an upgrade part for the Mugen MTX-5, produced from 7075 hard aluminium for strength and lightweight performance. It mounts to the motor output to change the overall gear ratio, influencing acceleration, peak speed and the electrical load on the drive system.

Designed with MTX-5 compatibility in mind; when installing, ensure the pinion meshes cleanly with the spur gear, confirm motor shaft diameter and key alignment, and set backlash according to the chassis manufacturer's specs. Apply standard thread lock or use the recommended retaining method to secure the pinion to the motor shaft.

Tuning note: switching to an 18-tooth pinion moves the balance toward higher top speed compared with smaller pinions but increases load on motor and ESC. Pair pinion selection with appropriate motor timing, ESC configuration and battery pack to achieve the balance you want for sprint runs or longer sessions.
