Orange long shock spring — tuning use

The Yokomo YS-1560L is a long, orange-coded pro shock spring offered as an RC suspension accessory to help with model setup and handling tweaks. It serves as a replacement spring when greater travel or a different preload range is needed in a shock unit, and it is supplied as a single part for scale models rather than as a vehicle assembly.

Practical role: extended springs alter preload and static ride height and work in concert with damper oil grades and pistons to affect transient response and cornering support. Installing a longer spring normally alters static ride height and requires damping updates to keep the car stable over bumps and through turns.

Installation notes: verify your shock's internal travel and the spring seat dimensions first, remove the shock, decompress and swap springs while ensuring the spring seats correctly on both the retainer and shaft, then reassemble. Afterwards, do a few slow runs to check for binding and to set preload and damping.

Tuning tips: change chassis roll stiffness and balance incrementally, combine spring swaps with damping and anti-roll adjustments, and note ride-height and steering changes with measured checks rather than guessing.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Start by checking damper oil level and piston type; heavier springs often need thicker oil or different pistons to maintain similar bump and rebound behaviour.
Yes. A longer spring typically raises static ride height and changes chassis roll; measure the difference and adjust preload and droop accordingly.
Remove the shock from the model, decompress the old spring slowly, compare seat positions, fit the new spring ensuring proper seating, then reassemble and verify free travel before running.
