Tuning with silicone shock oil

This Yokomo YOKRP-085275 Ultra Shock Oil is a silicone-based oil crafted for RC shock absorbers to aid damping adjustments. It functions as a replacement or tuning fluid where a predictable silicone base oil is required, and it is designed for use in model car suspension systems only.

Role in tuning: shock oil controls how quickly the shock damps by resisting piston motion inside the shock body. Choosing heavier or lighter oil will change traction, handling during cornering, weight transfer and rebound. Use oil swaps in a controlled test sequence to evaluate handling changes while keeping other settings constant.

Installation notes: remove the existing oil, inspect seals and shock shafts for wear, then refill slowly to reduce trapped air. Cycle the shock several times to purge bubbles and top up as needed. Use dedicated syringes or shock pumps for RC shocks to avoid contaminants and overfilling.

Handling and storage: keep caps secure, store bottles upright at room temperature out of direct sunlight, and do not combine with other oil types. Dispose of used oil following local waste disposal rules for chemical fluids.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
A higher weight increases resistance to piston movement, slowing rebound and compression. This can add stability but may reduce small-bump compliance; use it within a stepwise tuning plan to find the best balance.
Yes. Changing oil viscosity is a common tuning lever to adjust how quickly the car transfers weight and recovers from bumps. Make one change at a time to evaluate its effect.
Use syringes or dedicated shock pumps to fill cleanly and avoid introducing air or dirt. These tools help achieve consistent fill volumes and prevent contamination.
