Technical details of the 1.8x FCD rear gear

This spare gear set is built for the 1.8x FCD (full counter drift) rear gear configuration used in Yokomo drift platforms. It is supplied as a replacement component to reinstate the designed gear ratio and drivetrain response without modifying other gearbox geometry.

Replace the gear to remedy worn teeth, repair practice damage, or restore a vehicle to the factory 1.8x FCD rear arrangement. Installation is completed in the rear gearbox compartment and should include standard gear-mesh and runout inspections to prevent accelerated wear.

Tuning notes: ensure correct mesh clearance between the motor pinion and spur, check bearings adjacent to the gear for any play, and confirm smooth alignment under light load before sealing the gearbox. This component is for RC use only.

Will fitting a fresh D-090 change my car's handling?

Installing a correct 1.8x D-090 restores the factory rear ratio, which can return the original drift characteristics. It does not alter other gearbox geometry, so handling changes reflect the intended setup rather than unexpected behaviour.

Should I adjust the motor pinion after replacement?

Typically no pinion swap is needed, but you must set correct mesh clearance with the existing motor pinion. If you change final gearing ratios, re-evaluate pinion size as part of tuning.

Is this gear suitable for non-drift setups?

The D-090 is specified for drift rear gearing and will reproduce the intended 1.8x FCD behaviour. Using it outside drift applications may alter drivetrain response compared to other gear ratios.
