Rear spring fitment and role

This Yokomo YOKRP-084O Ultra Off-Road Rear Spring (Orange) is an RC rear coil spring intended for the rear suspension of 1/10-class off-road buggies and trucks. It is supplied as a replacement or tuning spring to alter rear behaviour without replacing shock bodies or mounts.

Manufactured from corrosion-resistant steel wire and coated orange for quick rate recognition, the spring is aimed at delivering steady, linear performance to improve traction on corner exit and stability through the middle of turns on loose tracks.

Fitting is simple on standard shock units: remove the shock cap and spring retainer, swap in the new spring while keeping any internal shims or spacers, and then check preload and that the spring seats correctly. Also verify shock shaft straightness and the condition of shock oil when changing springs to isolate the spring as the variable during setup.

Tuning tips: increasing rear spring rate usually reduces squat and can make turn-in firmer under throttle, while softer springs raise compliance and can help traction over uneven ground. Implement changes one step at a time, adjust preload before replacing the set, and keep written notes of adjustments for repeatable setups.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Remove the shock cap, take off the spring retainer, change the spring while retaining shims/spacers, then reassemble and confirm smooth shaft travel and correct preload.
Yes, pairing different front and rear rates is a common tuning method; adjust gradually and test handling balance after each change to find the best combination.
Keep spare springs clean and dry in labelled containers to prevent rust and to preserve the orange finish, and rotate stock to avoid long-term compression.
