Serpent Natrix 750 EVO: Tunable 1/10 nitro touring chassis
The Serpent Natrix 750 EVO is a 1/10 nitro touring car built with tunability and durability in mind. It improves on earlier designs with refined flex control, revised suspension geometry, and a gearbox engineered for reliable shifting under race conditions.
Chassis construction and suspension upgrades
At the core is a 3mm 7075-T6 aluminium chassis crafted to alter flex behaviour for handling balance. A vibration-isolated weight bridge, drawn from the 989 concept, helps refine weight distribution. The redesigned rear suspension lets you change toe characteristics as the suspension moves, aiding traction during acceleration.
2-speed gearbox enhancements
The 2-speed unit benefits from lessons learned with the 989 gearbox. A longer roller ramp reduces the likelihood of gear lock as parts wear, and the second gear bell uses dual bearings for smoother rotational balance, supporting repeatable engine performance.
Improved shocks and sealing features
The shocks and towers follow advanced low-friction principles seen on the 989, including X-ring seals and a long bushing to keep oil sealed and contaminants out. An optional heave damper allows independent heave and roll adjustments to suit varied track styles.
Design detail and setup flexibility
Michael Salven's design influence is evident in the car's flexibility, including a side-guard/stiffener for the body shell and optional front and rear heave sets. These options help racers tailor handling to their driving preferences and track demands.
