The Serpent Viper 990R brings targeted refinements to the 1/8 GP platform, carrying lessons from the 990 EVO into a more serviceable package. Highlights include a redesigned chassis section, an enlarged fuel tank area for battery flexibility, and stronger rear bulkheads to withstand demanding running.
The chassis redesign prioritises rear stiffness by removing excess weight holes, which helps improve feedback and stability. The larger fuel tank lets you position bigger battery packs without complicating assembly. Upgraded rear bulkheads and simplified anti-roll bar mounts cut setup time at the track.
The one-piece shaft in the 2-speed gearbox is built for consistent operation and includes an additional groove to locate bearings securely. The bumper accepts carbon stiffeners and support mounts to dial stiffness. Front upper arm bushings enhance caster repeatability and side stiffeners increase torsional rigidity.
The chassis plate is a 5mm section of 7075 T6 aluminum that balances weight and controlled flex. The front anti-roll bar is straightforward to tune and the pivot ball link layout makes suspension changes easier. The kit comes with robust wishbones, shock mount plates, and pivot pin inserts for camber and caster adjustment options.
