This 18T pinion is supplied as part number SSB018T for Team Losi Super Baja style vehicles. Constructed from hardened steel #45, the pinion is intended for direct motor drive use and is not suitable for full-size vehicles.
Replacing the stock 19T with an 18T changes the gear ratio and is commonly used to tune the model toward stronger acceleration at the expense of top speed, or vice versa when combined with other gearing choices. Fit the pinion to the motor with the motor mount set to the hole labelled 18T so the gear aligns correctly.
On material and fit: the component is produced in hardened steel #45 to resist wear under normal electric motor loads, and it meshes with the vehicle spur and existing drivetrain components. After installation, inspect mesh and motor alignment to avoid accelerated wear.
