Compact Reproduction of the Caterham Super Seven JPE

Known for its minimalist performance focus, the Caterham Super Seven JPE is faithfully represented in Tamiya 10203 at 1/12 scale. The kit gives modellers a compact but highly detailed construction task.

Painted Aluminium and Metal Components

The bonnet and side panels are supplied in aluminum and finished in fluorescent yellow to reflect the original paint scheme. Additional metal details include the grille, roll-bar and muffler, while rubber and cloth pieces like the tonneau cover and six-point seat belt increase authenticity.

Screw-Joined Chassis Construction

Aluminum panels attach to a space frame with screws to emulate the JPEs assembly method. The kit also includes a layered suspension assembly and engine block that reward careful fitting and alignment.

Suspension Articulation and Steering Accuracy

Die-cast suspension arms and deDion tubing combine with coil springs and dampers on metal brackets, allowing genuine movement in the suspension. The rack-and-pinion steering system is reproduced so the wheels track with the steering wheel input.

Engine Detail and Ancillary Pipework

The Vauxhall engine model shows a rubber timing belt, sponge air-cleaner and a metal exhaust pipe, with piping and wiring such as the oil line and ignition cable modelled to enhance the engine bay's credibility.

  • Scale: 1/12
  • Dimensions: Length 265mm, Width 132mm, Height 84mm
  • Material: Aluminum, Metal, Rubber, Cloth
  • Assembly Type: Screw-based construction
  • Features: Moveable suspension, functional steering
The aluminium panels come painted in fluorescent yellow, but you can touch up or respray them if you prefer a different finish or to improve panel matching.
A light application of suitable lubricant to moving metal joints can help smooth steering and suspension motion, but avoid excess that could stain rubber or cloth parts.
