The Honda CX500 Turbo made history as the first turbocharged motorcycle in mainstream production when it appeared in 1981. Honda teamed with IHI for turbo technology, and the bike used a V2 OHV layout with computerized fuel injection to deliver about 78hp and 7.5kg/m torque, enabling speeds beyond 120 mph under ideal conditions.
This 1/12 scale model from Tamiya captures the CX500 Turbo's lines and mechanical layout at 172mm long and 56mm wide. The kit recreates the bike's distinctive bodywork and suspension layout; the removable cowling reveals internal detail. Synthetic rubber tyres and Cartograf decals are included to help achieve a finished look that reads correct at model scale.
Builders should plan time for precise assembly and painting. The kit models the Pro-Link rear suspension and an adjustable anti-nose dive front end, so careful alignment in those areas improves the final appearance and durability of the completed model.
