This 1/12 scale plastic model kit depicts the Factory Yamaha YZR 500 2001, intended as a display replica with period-correct bodywork and team markings.
The 2001 Yamaha YZR 500 raced in the 500cc world championship and saw updates from the previous year, including changes to chassis balance and the adoption of carbon-fibre body panels to aid stability at speed. Factory riders such as Massimiliano Biaggi and Carlos Checa achieved prominent results that season. The updates aimed to improve handling and throttle control for better corner exits.
Kit builders can expect to reproduce the period racing finish by preparing colour references, using clear coats to vary sheen, and employing precise masking for striping. Decal placement and setting solutions will improve the finished look, and fine brushes will assist with small detail work.
A detailed scale kit capturing the 2001 factory machine, designed for careful assembly and finishing.
