This plastic model kit is a 1/12-scale reproduction of the 2004 Yamaha YZR-M1, intended as a detailed display model within Tamiya's 1/12 motorcycle range.
The 2004 YZR-M1 saw focused updates to improve traction and chassis response, including a revised twin-spar aluminium frame and an inverted swing arm together with enhancements to the 990cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine. That year also involved a high-profile rider move which influenced race results and competitive dynamics.
The kit lists an overall assembled length of 172 mm. The compact inline-four and adjacent powertrain parts are modeled for strong visual similarity, and the kit's side and seat cowls are removable post-assembly for engine display. Tires are molded in synthetic rubber to simulate slick tyres, and the design uses 2.5 mm poly caps to simplify damper fitment and secure bodywork. Cartograf decal sheets are included for rider numbers 46 and 11 and do not feature cigarette markings.
A carefully scaled model of the 2004 Yamaha YZR-M1 for builders who prioritize display realism and removable panels for mechanical viewing.
