The Suzuki GSX1100S Katana is celebrated for introducing a modern, angular design to motorcycles. Launched publicly at the 1980 Cologne Motorcycle Show, it quickly became a reference point for contemporary sportbike styling.
Hans A. Muth's design moved away from rounded forms to emphasise aerodynamics and rider comfort, producing a sharp, purposeful look. The focus on airflow and seating position contributed to both performance and a distinctive visual identity.
The production machine housed an air-cooled 1075cc inline-four engine featuring Suzuki's TSCC technology, producing around 111 horsepower and enabling top speeds close to 230 km/h while keeping stable handling characteristics.
The Tamiya 16025 kit faithfully reproduces the Katana's major features, including the streamlined fairing and exposed mechanical detail. The model is intended for builders familiar with gluing and painting and results in an authentic display model once finished.
