The Tamiya 18097 Toyota GR Yaris Mini 4WD kit delivers a compact, sport-styled model that appeals to both display collectors and competitive Mini 4WD drivers. It reproduces the GR Yaris silhouette while offering a chassis that responds well to tuning.

Exterior styling and decals

The body comes as a 3-door shell in white ABS, showcasing the car's aggressive front grille, pronounced wheel arches and rear roof spoiler. Included metallic stickers add authentic highlights to windows and body panels.

VZ chassis mechanics and performance

The VZ chassis emphasises a lightweight framework with reinforced sections around impact points to preserve integrity at speed. Low friction 620 plastic bearings made from POM help to minimise drivetrain drag. The standard gear ratio of 3.5:1 provides a good compromise between acceleration and top speed.

Upgrade path and race setup

Customisation is broad, from replacing the supplied Type 130 motor to experimenting with tyre compounds and gear changes. Grade-Up Parts allow staged improvements so you can focus on handling or straight-line speed depending on track demands.

Putting it together

Construction is straightforward with minimal tools required. The kit is fitted with fin-type wheels and small black low-profile tyres for a streamlined racing look. Two AA batteries are needed for operation and are not included.
