What the Hotshot Jr. brings to the track

The Tamiya Hotshot Jr. is part of the Mini 4WD PRO Series and combines retro buggy looks with engineering aimed at steady track performance. It is an approachable model for both racing and display.

Off-road buggy looks with function

Featuring bodywork that mirrors the 1986 Hotshot and spike tyre styling, this model captures a classic off-road silhouette while maintaining compatibility with modern Mini 4WD circuits.

Engineering of the MS Chassis

The MS Chassis is assembled from three main sections to provide a blend of stiffness and tuning flexibility. With room for a double shaft motor, it supports common powertrains used by Mini 4WD racers.

Upgrade routes and tuning tips

Common upgrades include swapping to performance motors, testing different tyre compounds and fine-tuning gear ratios. The chassis layout simplifies component swaps so you can experiment with setups quickly.

Build method and running environments

Snap-fit construction speeds assembly and reduces the need for tools or adhesives. The Hotshot Jr. works well on standard plastic tracks as well as simpler home circuits.

This is my 3rd and largest order from RC Jaz so far and I have to say I've been very impressed with this store. Everything arrived in perfect shape and order, very well packaged and delivered quickly bearing in mind this had to come from the other sid
Yes. The Hotshot Jr. suits indoor plastic circuits and simpler outdoor layouts, though tyre choice affects grip depending on surface conditions.
Start with a quality double shaft motor and experiment with gear ratios. Lightweight wheels and lower rolling resistance tyres also help reduce lap times.
Snap-fit construction holds up well under normal racing stresses. Take care when disassembling to avoid snapping clips, and consider reinforcing high-stress points if you run hard outdoors.
No glue is required for the main assembly due to the snap-fit design. Basic tools like side cutters and a small file are useful for cleaning parts and trimming sprues.
