The Lotus 25 Coventry Climax introduced the monocoque concept to Formula 1 in 1962, a decisive change developed by Colin Chapman at Team Lotus. The monocoque used thin aluminium panels to create a stiff, lightweight shell that superseded the older tubular space frame approach and influenced future racing designs.
The car was powered by a compact 1.5-litre Coventry Climax V8 and featured refined suspension engineering, including a front rocking arm with inboard springs and a rear layout using lower A arms and upper I arms. Jim Clark helped bring immediate success to the design with three wins in the first year and an outstanding seven wins during the 1963 championship season.
Tamiya's 1/20 kit faithfully captures the key visual and structural elements of the Lotus 25, making it a great project for modellers who appreciate classic Grand Prix engineering.
