The Morris Mini Cooper 1275S Mk.I showcased a fresh take on small car design when it appeared in 1959, packing practical space into a small footprint of 3.05 metres long by 1.41 metres wide. Its layout made it possible to seat four adults comfortably in a compact body.
The transverse engine and front-wheel drive freed up more cabin length, while the Hydrolastic suspension system helped smooth the ride by interlinking wheel movement. These innovations set the Mini apart from its contemporaries.
Sir Alec Issigonis combined clever packaging with memorable styling to create a motoring classic. The Tamiya 1/24 kit reproduces the Mini Cooper's proportions and trim, giving a satisfying build and a refined display model when finished.
