The Tamiya 25119 kit recreates two historically significant ships at 1/700 scale, enabling modellers to assemble authentic-looking hulls and superstructures from July 1945. The components are produced to support neat, small-scale finishing and display.
The I-58 parts show the vessel's late war configuration, with delicate deck detailing including radar elements, anti-aircraft weapons and manned torpedo attachments. The kit allows the builder to display the periscope either raised or depressed to suit the chosen diorama.
The Indianapolis model captures the ship's July 1945 equipment with well-defined superstructure, funnels and radar tops. The armament is represented by triple 20.3cm turrets, 12.7cm DP guns and a range of AA guns. Poly caps included let you rotate turrets after assembly, and there are parts to build two Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk seaplanes for extra detail.
