In regards to the Japanese Heavy Cruiser Mikuma

The next of four Mogami Class Cruisers to be designed with five 15.5cm triple guns had been the Mikuma. Completed in August 1935, its main firearms were later changed with 20.3cm dual firearms turning this ship into a heavy cruiser. Though regarding the exact same course, the Mikuma's connection along with other structures are slightly different from those of its elder sis, the Mogami. The Mikuma was area of the 7th Heavy Cruiser Squadron associated with the 2nd fleet and participated inside Malay landing operation together with Battle of Sunda Strait at the beginning of the Pacific War. But, during the battle of Midway, when all vessels of the 7th Squadron made simultaneous evasive maneuvers to escaspe from an enemy submarine, the tail regarding the Mogami moved forward and slammed to the Mikuma. A short while later, the Mikuma sustained heavy attacks from over 100 US bombers and sank toward ocean floor on the seas Northwest of Midway.
