The Shiratsuyu-class represented a step forward in destroyer design to correct earlier top-heaviness. Harusame, launched in 1937, featured improved anti-aircraft armament. Tamiya 31403 recreates this vessel at 1/700 scale with fine moulded detail that suits both display builders and naval history fans.
These destroyers were designed for better armament and sea handling. The kit reflects the strengthened AA fit including a triple 25mm mount replacing a rear turret and an extra mount near the bridge. The 12.7cm gun mounts and torpedo tubes are faithfully modelled, giving modellers crisp parts that fit well.
The completed model is 157mm long, compact for shelving yet detailed for close inspection. Included are waterslide decals for authentic markings, metal pieces to assist hull balance, and pictorial instructions to guide builders through the assembly sequence.
