the Iowa, namesake and first of the Iowa class battleships, as she showed up in WWII.


Towards USS Iowa
Commissioned in February 1943, the USS Iowa served shortly in the Atlantic before departing
the Pacific Theater in January 1944. She served primarily to guide provider based air
hits against Japanese-held islands, protecting said companies and shelling enemy shore
and naval positions. She took part within the Marianas campaign and the Battle of Leyte Gulf,
although she missed an opportunity for a showdown utilizing the Japanese battleship Yamato. After
assisting the assault in the Philippines, Iowa took part in Okinawa invasion plus
supporting atmosphere hits on Kyushu. As well as cousin ships USS Missouri and USS Wisconsin,
Iowa bombarded commercial towns and cities regarding Japanese homeland towards the conclusion of the war.
