This Tamiya 1/700 scale CV-3 Saratoga model is a waterline kit tailored for hobbyists who favour well-proportioned naval builds. As part of Tamiya's Water Line Series, it captures the ship's profile with clean moulding and practical assembly steps.
Saratoga was launched in April 1925 after a conversion from planned battle cruiser to aircraft carrier during construction. That background gave her unusual features for a carrier of the era, including an enclosed bow and an imposing funnel. She remained active through WWII and sustained heavy damage yet survived events such as the February 1945 operations at Iwo Jima.
The kit depicts Saratoga during the Battle of Iwo Jima and includes a two-piece hull with a single-piece flight deck that spans the ship. The moulding set also contains Hellcat and Avenger model aircraft to populate the flight deck and enhance the overall display.
