The Jagdtiger was a heavyweight among World War II tank destroyers, introduced in 1943 with a fearsome 12.8 cm gun mounted on a reinforced King Tiger chassis. Its fixed fighting compartment and up to 250 mm frontal armour made it one of the most heavily protected vehicles of the period. It first entered combat during the Ardennes Offensive in December 1944 and saw action until the closing months of the war in 1945.
