The JS-2 was a pivotal Soviet heavy tank in World War II, featuring a potent 122mm gun and reinforced frontal armor that made it effective against German heavy tanks. Production began in December 1943 and later changes, including removal of the front glacis hatch by August 1944, improved protection. The Chelyabinsk Kirov factory (ChKZ) was a major producer of this design.
This 1/48 kit from Tamiya 32571 brings the JS-2 to a manageable scale while preserving key visual and historical details for model display.
The model reproduces the cast surface on the turret and hull for authentic texture. Assembly-style tracks are included to permit realistic sag when fitted. A commander figure is supplied to occupy the cupola and the kit has two marking schemes to choose from for final presentation.
