The Tiger I became synonymous with heavy German armour in WWII. Tamiya brings the early production Tiger I to 1/48 scale, providing a balance of detail and manageable size for modellers who prefer realistic display pieces.
Deployed from late 1942 into 1943, the Tiger I served on the Eastern Front and in North Africa. It is often modelled because of its distinctive profile and the variety of paint schemes available from different units.
This release replaces the older die-cast lower hull layout with separate plastic lower and side hull parts, improving fit and assembly options. The model also includes metal weights in the chassis to replicate the tank's mass and give the completed kit better balance on display.
Builders can choose between two marking schemes: three-color camouflage used by the 503rd Heavy Panzer Battalion or the darker yellow finish of the 502nd Heavy Panzer Battalion for a different period look.
