The Tamiya 1/48 U.S. Howitzer Motor Carriage M8 is a compact representation of a WWII mobile artillery vehicle. It is aimed at modellers who want an accurate small-scale subject with authentic details that reflect its battlefield role supporting infantry.
Using the M5 Stuart tank chassis, the M8 mounted a 75 mm M116 howitzer in an M7 mount. Production reached roughly 1,800 units between September 1942 and early 1944, where the M8 was deployed to provide flexible artillery support in several theatres.
The kit includes detailed interior elements such as the main gun breech and comes with one-piece straight track sections to streamline fitting. Metal chassis weights are supplied to improve balance and give the completed model a solid feel.
Two decal schemes are provided, covering the 106th Cavalry Reconnaissance Group and the 758th Tank Battalion, enabling historically themed builds. A commander figure completes the display options.
