The Universal Carrier Mk.II served as a lightweight, tracked support vehicle during WWII and is popular among scale modellers for its simple lines and operational versatility. It worked in many support roles, making it a good subject for varied diorama themes.
Evolving from earlier carrier designs, the Mk.II was in service from about 1940 and relied on a Ford V-8 engine for mobility. Its armament was generally light, typically a Bren LMG, which kept it agile for reconnaissance and transport duties.
Tamiya delivers a tidy 1/35 kit with accurate surface detail, flexible tracks and five crew figures. The assortment of small gear like knapsacks and ammo pouches allows for personalising scenes and adding period character to builds.
