The German Jagdpanther earned recognition in World War II as a capable tank destroyer based on the Panther chassis, combining a heavy gun with robust protection. The late model mounts the Pak43/3, L71 88mm gun in a boxy fighting compartment, protected by 80mm frontal plates and 50mm sloped side armour. Its Saukopf mantlet reaches roughly 100mm in thickness to bolster frontal defence.
Fitted with a Maybach V12 engine, the Jagdpanther weighed about 46 tons and offered a strong mix of firepower and mobility. Production began in January 1944 at MIAG, with later vehicles showing updates such as larger idler wheels and enhanced crew heating. It first engaged in combat during the Normandy offensive in June 1944, and total output was 415 units by April 1945.
