The German Kubelwagen Type 82, a design from Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, transitioned from a civil utility car to an important military transport during World War II. Its monocoque body and torsion bar suspension kept weight down while providing competent off-road performance, and the air-cooled four-cylinder engine simplified field maintenance.
In North African operations the Kubelwagen Type 82 often received Continental balloon tyres and desert equipment like spares, a shovel and a canvas canopy to boost mobility across dunes. Such practical changes helped sustain army movements; production figures reached around 51,000 units by the end of the war.
The Tamiya 1/35 model reproduces desert fittings in tan plastic and includes precise parts such as towing hooks, front bonnet and rear bodywork. The kit also contains wide-tread balloon tyres, a detailed figure, waterslide decals and clear picture-based instructions to guide the build.
