Tamiya 35248 1/35 Marder III - kit overview

The Marder III served as a pragmatic solution for the Wehrmacht when facing Soviet T-34 tanks, combining the Pz.Kpfw.38(t) chassis with the captured 7.62cm Pak36(r) field gun. The design offered effective anti-tank power, with penetration capability commonly cited up to about 122mm under specific engagement conditions.

Assembly and finishing highlights

Tamiya's 1/35 rendition provides well-detailed components for the gun mount, crew spaces and external armour plates. The moulding quality supports precise assembly and allows for realistic posing of protective panels and sighting equipment. Builders who like crisp parts and tidy seams will find this kit rewarding.

Display and Collection Value

Whether used in a solo display or paired with other WWII armour, the kit's accurate shape and included two crew figures plus five battlefield markings give modellers scope for varied finishes and unit options.

Specifications

  • Scale: 1/35
  • Length: 174mm
  • Material: Plastic
  • Includes: Two crew figures, five battlefield markings
Sharp sprue cutters, a fine hobby knife, sanding sticks and plastic cement will cover most assembly needs. A pin vise and tweezers help with small detail parts.
Start with a base coat and light washes to bring out panel lines, then add chipping and dust effects sparingly. Oil or enamel washes followed by matt varnish give a convincing finish.
Decals are typical sheet transfers. Use decal setting solution for curved surfaces and seal them with a clear coat to protect the markings.
