Precision brass shells for realistic Marder III M scenes

The Tamiya 1/35 German Marder III M Brass 7.5cm Projectiles kit equips hobbyists with carefully produced brass shells to improve realism on models and dioramas. The parts are made for close inspection and offer convincing metallic texture for weathering techniques.

Background on the Marder III evolution

The Marder III arrived after German units encountered heavily armoured Soviet types like the T34 and KV around 1941. Where earlier 37mm guns fell short, the conversion to a 75mm Pak40/L46 on the Czechoslovakian 38t chassis gave crews the punch needed. The Marder III M was widely used until the Jagdpanzer 38t Hetzer provided a dedicated tank hunter alternative.

What the kit contains and how to use it

The set includes two types of rounds, Pzgr.40 armour piercing and Gr.38 Hl/B high explosive. There are 22 items total, mixing partially sectioned rounds, intact rounds and empty casings, so you can stage loaded racks, spent ordnance or workshop maintenance scenes.

Yes, wash the brass in mild detergent or use isopropyl alcohol to remove oils, then apply a suitable primer before painting.
You can mix brass and plastic shells for variety, but expect minor differences in weight and finish; use paint and weathering to blend them visually.
Try open munition crates, half-load racks, or a damaged fighting compartment to showcase the different shell types and cutaways.
