This is a 1/35 scale plastic model kit of the German Sd.Kfz 222 four-wheel-drive armoured reconnaissance car, released within Tamiya's 1/35 military series to capture surface detail and silhouette accuracy.

The Sd.Kfz 222 originated in the 1930s as a light armored reconnaissance vehicle and saw widespread service through the mid phases of the Second World War. It was built with welded armor plates, an open-top rotating turret behind mesh deflectors, and armed primarily with a 20mm cannon plus a 7.92mm machine gun. Mobility was enhanced by a four-wheel-drive setup featuring independent suspension and optional four-wheel steering.

Tamiya's kit highlights exterior authenticity and fine-scale components. Photo-etched parts recreate the turret hatch mesh more faithfully than molded plastic, while the turned aluminum barrel provides a refined main gun appearance.
