The Panzer II was central to Germany's early armoured tactics in World War II. Developed after the First World War with restricted progress, it adopted a strengthened 2 cm main gun while using the earlier Panzer I hull. Production began in 1937 and reached 1088 units by April 1940. These tanks led attacks in Poland and France and later shifted into reconnaissance roles as battlefield needs changed.
This Tamiya 1/35 kit reproduces the Ausf. A, B and C with authentic detail. It includes optional supplemental armour plates, separately moulded hatches and armour panels to show variant differences, and single-piece track sections to streamline construction. A commander figure is provided and three marking schemes reflect French Campaign units.
For diorama builders this kit pairs well with contemporary subjects like the French Battle Tank B1 bis or the German 3 Ton 4x2 Cargo Truck. Using the German Infantry Set (French Campaign) can add troops and small gear to enrich the scene.
