The Tamiya 1/35 Elefant scale model brings a mix of authentic detail and practical assembly for hobbyists focused on World War II armour. The moulding and part layout make it suitable for display-level finishing.
The vehicle began as Porsche's 1941 evolution of the Ferdinand and was armed with the 8.8cm PaK 43 L/71 gun. Though hampered by limited mobility and mechanical faults early on, it produced significant firepower in battles such as Kursk. Upgrades introduced by 1944 included a machine gun and a commander's cupola, which saw service on multiple fronts including Italy, Russia and Berlin.
Tamiya captures the Elefant's fighting compartment and box-like superstructure faithfully, with visible bolt-on front armour panels, a well-defined engine grille and a mount for the machine gun.
Tracks come as assembly-type pieces to achieve convincing sag in the running gear. Included are three crew figures - commander, loader and driver - plus three marking options for varied display schemes.
