The Ford GPA, often called the seep for its combined sea and jeep characteristics, was used by US forces and later by Russian units in World War II. Sharing many components with the GPW jeep, the GPA reached production totals near 12,800 by 1943 and stands out as an interesting amphibious design.
This Tamiya 1/35 kit updates the earlier U.S. Amphibian Ford GPA Kit (Item 35043) with revised parts to improve fit and detail. The kit is aimed at modellers who value accurate shapes and authentic small-scale fittings.
Key modelling features include a bonnet that opens to show the engine area, a well-detailed cockpit and interior, and photo-etched parts for delicate elements like the grille and small hardware. These features help the completed model look convincing in a display or on a base.
Included figures consist of a driver plus two infantry passengers to give scenes more life. The model benefits from careful assembly, precise painting and weathering to capture the operational feel of the Ford GPA.
