The Tamiya 1/35 German Medium Tank Panther Ausf.D model kit is aimed at Aussie hobbyists who value accurate wartime replicas. Introduced to counter the Soviet T-34, the Panther carried the L/70 7.5cm gun for long-range engagements. Its sloped armour, inspired by the T-34, combined with notable road speeds of up to 55 km/h.

Production context and battlefield use

The Ausf.D was the initial production batch, with 842 produced between January and September 1943. Early issues from rapid production did not stop the Panther from proving effective in combat, including during Kursk. This kit reproduces signature features such as smoke dischargers and the rear plate configuration.
