The Tamiya 1/35 M40 kit captures the U.S. Self-Propelled 155mm Gun with precision moulding and authentic surface detail. New tooling was applied for most components while the suspension borrows parts from the M4A3E8 Sherman "Easy Eight". The kit combines the iconic M1 155mm gun with a proven Sherman chassis for a faithful scale representation.

Service Use and Timeline

Designed at the close of World War II to provide extended-range artillery support, the M40 achieved an effective range of about 23.5 kilometres. It was not used in WWII combat but served during the Korean War before later vehicles like the M53 replaced it. The model presents these historical elements in accurate form.
