First accepted into service in 1939, the KV-1 became notable for its heavy armour on World War II battlefields. The early 1941 configuration used the 76.2mm ZIS-5 gun and a welded turret with armor up to 75mm, giving it marked protection during the early stages of the 1941 eastern campaigns.
To help identify enemy armour, German forces sometimes carried simple wooden or paper KV-1 models. Reflecting that practice, this Tamiya kit includes a tiny model for use in dioramas, enabling builders to stage tactical briefings or supply area scenes with period authenticity.
