The Hawker Hurricane was a key asset in early WWII air operations, developed during the 1930s as a low-wing monoplane with a sturdy layout and fabric-covered aft fuselage. Entering service in the late 1937 period, the Hurricane Mk.I earned its reputation intercepting enemy bombers despite not matching the top speed of some adversaries like the Bf109. Production ran into the tens of thousands and the type served with several nations.
This 1/48 scale offering from Tamiya faithfully recreates Hurricane Mk.I lines and surface detail. Photo-etched parts add cockpit finesse and the removable cowling exposes the Merlin engine for display. The kit supplies two spinner/propeller choices and three crew figures, plus six marking options. A 36-page Photographic Reference Manual helps with authentic paint and marking placement.
