Tamiya 42103 TA05MS - Race-Oriented Carbon Touring Platform

The Tamiya 42103 TA05MS offers a race-ready foundation that blends TA05 heritage with TRF-derived improvements. It is aimed at racers and tinkerers who want a responsive, tuneable on-road chassis.

Stiff Double-Deck Carbon Construction

This kit features a 2mm upper and 2.5mm lower carbon deck that raises torsional stiffness while keeping key components low in the chassis. The arrangement promotes sharper directional control and predictable weight transfer through corners.

Refined Drive Train and Handling Features

The belt-driven 4WD system uses wide pitch pulleys to move power efficiently to all wheels. A front one-way mechanism sharpens corner exit and aids rotation, and aluminium bulkheads front and rear keep the structure rigid yet light.

Flexible Damper Setup and Heat Control

3mm carbon damper stays allow a wide variety of shock positions for fine tuning. The aluminium motor mount helps reduce mass and assists with heat dispersion for improved motor reliability during longer sessions.

The TA05MS is intended for hobbyists who prefer detailed setup work and want a chassis that responds well to incremental tuning for club or club-level competition.

Yes, standard 1/10 touring ESCs, motors and servos fit within the layout. Pay attention to battery size and motor mount position when finalising component choices.
The adjustable suspension and multiple damper positions let you tune the chassis for both high-grip indoor carpet and lower-grip outdoor asphalt with the right springs and tyres.
The kit uses aluminium bulkheads and an aluminium motor mount as standard. Other aluminium upgrade parts are available separately if you want to further stiffen or lighten specific areas.
Try a combination of front toe-in adjustments, softer front dampers and testing the front one-way engagement. Small changes to roll centre and anti-roll settings can also help rotation without sacrificing straight-line pace.
Out of the box it provides a competitive chassis base, but you will need to select appropriate electronics, tyres and final setup to meet class rules and track conditions.
