The Tamiya 42184 - 1/10 RC TRF417 Chassis Kit refines the TRF concept using race-proven data, producing a chassis tailored to high level on-road competition. Every change targets controllable grip and predictable handling.
This chassis incorporates new carbon damper stays at both ends, aluminum bulkheads and a one-piece aluminum motor mount to cut unnecessary weight while improving rigidity. Relocating the motor 2.0mm toward the centre helps the car bite into corners under acceleration when paired with powerful brushless motors.
Designed around competitive constraints, the TRF417 aims for a minimum weight near 1,350g. The one-piece motor mount reduces mechanical loss and a 19T pulley sets an internal drive ratio of approximately 1.94 to reduce flex under braking and coasting phases.
The steering linkage is now independent from the upper deck to improve front end compliance and corner traction. The ball diff and its plates are strengthened for long term running, and identical bulkheads front and rear streamline repairs. Short reversible arms and TRF416 uprights give a refined suspension geometry for track use.
With a focus on balance and durable race parts, the TRF417 makes for a strong foundation when running modern brushless setups and high-power batteries.
