Plasma Edge II: Ready for Off-Road Use

The Plasma Edge II from Tamiya pairs sharp looks with a chassis designed for rough conditions. The Gun Metal finish gives it a distinctive appearance while the TT-02B foundation is known for steady handling and easy service routines.

Off-Road Chassis Design

The TT-02B adapts the TT-02 platform for off-road duties. It features a shaft-driven 4WD system on a skid-shaped frame and a fully independent double wishbone suspension. Long suspension arms and white CVA oil-filled shocks help maintain control over uneven surfaces, and the symmetric arm and upright layout simplifies construction.

Powertrain and Adjustments

Flexibility is built into the drivetrain. The gearboxes use 4-bevel differentials to manage power delivery and improve handling in turns. You can change overall gearing by fitting separately sold pinion gears to match different courses or running conditions.

This Plasma Edge II kit suits hobbyists who appreciate a collectable finish and a chassis that can be tailored for racing or recreational off-road use.

Basic modelling tools, screwdrivers, nippers and a small hex set will cover the build; no specialist factory tools are required for the standard assembly.
The white CVA oil-filled shocks provide good baseline damping, but shock oil weight and spring choice are common tuning points for very rough or high speed tracks.
The pre-painted polycarbonate shell is reasonably tough for typical off-road use, but heavy impacts may still require replacement bodies over time.
