The Tamiya 54161 Low Friction Suspension Ball Set is a straightforward upgrade for F104 and F103GT owners wanting crisper steering response. The anodised aluminium balls lower friction in the link joints, helping the front suspension turn more freely and resist wear from regular track use.

What the Kit Contains

This pack supplies two 7mm and two 8mm suspension balls sized for the Tamiya F104 and F103GT front suspension. They can also be adapted to the F103RM and F103 15th Anniversary Chassis Kit when you fit the Formula Link-Type Front Suspension (Item 53258).

Will these improve steering feel on hard compound tyres?

Reducing friction in the front linkage can make steering inputs feel more precise, even with grippier tyres. Suspension geometry and shocks still play a major role.

Any tips for installation?

Fit parts cleanly and check for play after installation. Lightly grease the contact points and cycle the suspension to seat the balls before running at speed.
