Rugged handling upgrade for the M-05 chassis

The Tamiya 54194 M-05 Ball Differential Set is a solid upgrade for pilots who want more stable traction from their M-05 platform. Rated to improve power distribution when a wheel lifts or slips, this kit reduces sudden snaps and helps maintain momentum through corners. It does not come with the M-05 PRO kit but is fully compatible for users wanting a tougher driveline setup.

What the kit contains

Contents are focused on durability and smooth differential action:

  • Aluminum Differential Joints: Hard anodized for strength and precise fit.
  • Cap Screw & Spacer: Secure assembly and correct spacing control.
  • Nylon Nut & Steel Balls: For dependable ball diff operation.
  • Reinforced Bearings: Includes 620 thrust, plus 850 and 1510 bearings for solid support.
  • Ball Diff Grease: Supplied to fine tune slip and responsiveness.

Fitment guidance

The 54194 ball differential works with M-05 and M-05PRO kits. For improved driveline harmony consider using the M03 Assembly Universal Shaft (Item 53597) where relevant, and double check spline fit during assembly.

Great Service as always. I will use you again for my new Tamiya. Thank you very much. RCJAZ..
Yes, the hard anodized joints and reinforced bearings increase durability, but regular cleaning after dusty or muddy runs will extend service life.
Compatibility is generally good, but confirm universal shaft length and spline compatibility if your car has mixed aftermarket driveline components.
Change the amount and type of ball diff grease and tweak preload to control how easily the diff allows wheel speed differences. Softer setup for loose surfaces, firmer for tarmac.
No special tools are required beyond common RC hand tools. Use a clean workspace and suitable small hex drivers and pliers to service bearings and balls.
