Blitzer Beetle - Ready for Off-Road Bashing

The Tamiya 58122 Blitzer Beetle offers a fun reinterpretation of the Volkswagen Beetle in a 1/10 scale 2WD package. Bright decals and large tyres give it a playful look while the chassis is tuned for simple, durable off-road use.

Construction and Finish

Made from ABS plastic, the body accepts decals for a customised finish and mounts securely to the plastic chassis. The worm of drive is a dog bone driven gearbox sending power to the rear wheels in a classic 2WD layout. The independent double wishbone suspension smooths out rough sections of track.

Powertrain and Dampers

Equipped with a conventional 540-brushed motor, the Blitzer Beetle produces dependable acceleration for grass and dirt. The oil-filled plastic shock absorbers help control rebounds and the rubber pin spike tyres grip loose surfaces. A mechanical ESC is provided in the kit to control motor speed once electronics are added.

Tamiya 58122 Blitzer Beetle works well for builders who want a straightforward, characterful buggy that handles basic off-road terrain and welcomes modest upgrades.

A focused build typically takes a few evenings depending on experience and painting time for the body.
Yes, the chassis can accept a brushless motor and suitable ESC, but you may need to check mounting space and gear ratios before upgrading.
Regular cleaning of bearings, checking drive dog bones and refreshing shock oil or seals will keep the buggy performing well.
Foam inserts can help tyre stability on hardpack, but verify tyre cavity size and glue compatibility before fitting inserts.
