Retro Looks with Contemporary Handling in the Tamiya Subaru Brat 58384-60A

The Subaru Brat returns in RC form, carrying its 1970s character while gaining handling upgrades from Tamiya. The 1983 style is preserved, but the chassis and suspension have been modernised for better on-track behaviour.

Display Resin and Lightweight Race Body Included

Included in the box are two body options: a show-quality resin shell for collectors and a light polycarbonate body aimed at racers. This gives owners freedom to set the model up for static display or active running.

Space Frame Chassis with Improved Rear Damping

The model sits on a space frame chassis with independent suspension all around. Front double wishbones and rear trailing arms handle rough ground, and the rear now features diaphragm oil dampers with coil springs for smoother travel.

The Tamiya Subaru Brat 58384-60A is a dependable platform for those who appreciate period-correct detail and want a chassis that can be tuned for recreational racing or tidy display.

Basic modelling and hobby tools are sufficient: side cutters, files, screwdrivers and a hobby knife. A small hobby drill and thread locking compound are useful for stronger assemblies.
While the kit lists an RS540 type motor, many builders fit compact brushless setups with appropriate ESCs as long as the motor and pinion fit the gearbox and battery space.
Regular checks of suspension pivots, drive components and shocks are recommended. Clean and lightly lube moving parts after dusty runs to keep performance consistent.
Resin bodies are primarily for display and may benefit from internal reinforcement if you plan to run them; otherwise the polycarbonate shell is the practical choice for active use.
