Tamiya's iconic Thunder Shot makes a comeback from its 1987 origins with a 2022 reissue that keeps the classic silhouette while integrating sensible updates. This release honours models like the Fire Dragon and Thunder Dragon while adding parts that suit current RC practice.

Smoother Damping and Better Control

The updated model replaces the original Type I dampers with CVA oil dampers II to improve suspension performance. The car features a fully independent double wishbone suspension at each corner and a front stabiliser for controlled handling. An aluminium motor mount increases rigidity and aids in consistent motor alignment during hard use.

Scale Body and Chassis Construction

The bodyshell is formed from robust polycarbonate, supplied pre-cut and pre-painted in a white and blue colourway, and includes a transparent canopy for scale realism. Decals and a driver figure are provided for finishing. The ABS bathtub chassis underpins the model and sealed gearboxes contain die-cast 3-bevel differential gears for dependable power transfer.

What Comes in the Kit and What You Need

This kit includes a Type 540 brushed motor and a HobbyWing THW 1060 Brushed Motor ESC that supports 2-3S batteries. Required extras are a 2-channel radio, steering servo, and a 7.2V battery with charger. The semi-pneumatic spike tyres give the buggy strong traction on mixed off-road surfaces.
