Tamiya has refreshed the Hotshot II from the late 80s, with Jun Watanabe overseeing the design tweaks. The 1/10 scale kit keeps the original charm while making assembly and presentation cleaner for modern builders.
The pre-cut, pre-painted blue polycarbonate body speeds up the build process and keeps paint lines tidy. The raised roll cage provides a taller driver position and complements the matte metal-plated uprights and wheels. Blockhead Motors sticker sheets come supplied for an authentic period finish.
This Hotshot II uses a 4WD system with double wishbone suspension, featuring one front transverse damper and two rear CVA II oil dampers. It is designed around a 540-type brushed motor. Keep in mind the ESC, transmitter and battery are not included, so plan your electronics to match the motor and intended use.
Although both models wear Blockhead Motors styling, the Hotshot II offers a different chassis feel and suspension setup than the Wild One. It will appeal to drivers looking for a throwback handling experience with modern reliability.
For builders who enjoy vintage R/C styling with straightforward assembly, the Hotshot II is a rewarding project. It balances nostalgia with components that are suitable for modern tuning and maintenance.
