The Spitfire is an emblematic WWII fighter designed by R.J. Mitchell and central during the Battle of Britain. The Mk. IX was introduced to meet the threat of the German Fw190A and features a Merlin Series 60/70 powerplant with a two-stage supercharger to boost performance, keeping the type in production across much of the war.
Tamiya's 1/32 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc kit is manufactured with sharp surface detail and a broad set of assembly choices. Modellists can replicate different service fits thanks to interchangeable fuel tanks, filters, exhaust sets, cowlings, wing fairings, tip shapes and tail surfaces.
The parts pack includes both early and late wheel variants, realistic gunsights, rubber brake line reproductions and full bomb rack assemblies. Canopy components allow both closed and open presentations for varied display styles.
The Mk.IXc model delivers a convincing representation of the Rolls Royce Merlin installation and the 'C' wing gun configuration. The slim engine cowlings are removable and secured by magnets, which makes inspection and painting easier.
