The P-47 had been the first single-seated fighter to be built with a supercharger combined with a 2000hp engine, and can fly at exact same thin air as bombers. Armed with eight 12.7mm machineguns, the Thunderbolt, with the P-51 Mustang, constituted the key fighters regarding the United States Army Air Force.
